Only hours before the American send off of the Apple Vision Genius, the Application Store has been refreshed to show the principal viable applications. All you really want to realize about this very good quality blended reality headset. However, some are as yet absent.
In a few hours, the Apple Vision Pro will be released in the
United States. The strength of this product lies logically in its performance
and design. Its success also depends on what you can do with it, and for that,
you need applications - enough of them, and enough of them interesting. The
first Vision Pro applications are available on the App Store. In a press
release issued on February 2, Apple claims to have 600 of them.
Applications
available on the Apple Vision Pro
600 applications optimized for use with the Vision Pro: that's what Apple is planning for the launch of the Vision Pro. To find out if an application is available (or not) on the Vision Pro, there should be a section of the headset's name next to Apple's other platforms: iPhone, iPad, iMessage, Apple TV, Mac. In this section, you'll find a few screenshots of the application in the headset, as well as details of features exclusive to visionOS, the Vision Pro's operating system. Vision Pro also boasts compatibility with over a million apps on iOS and iPadOS.
Most of the available applications are dedicated to office
applications such as Microsoft Word for word processing, and productivity
applications such as Box for managing documents in the cloud, and MindNode for
note-taking. OmniFocus and OmniPlan can be used for data visualization. Other
more widespread applications include Slack, Notion and Todoist.
When it comes to videoconferencing, too, some developers
have made the effort to port their applications to Vision Pro. Microsoft Teams,
Webex and Zoom are the lucky ones to be included. The Navi application lets you
translate conversations in real time, with subtitles, so you can understand the
people you're talking to in real life.
As for entertainment, the focus seems to be on sport. PGA
Tour Vision lets you follow golf shots in real time, thanks to 3D models of
real golf courses, during competitions. Vision Pro can display statistics,
rankings, scores and more. The NBA is also on board: up to five live games can
be displayed on virtual screens, along with player statistics, or the scores of
other games in progress. Major League Baseball's MLB application is also
available. Red Bull TV offers 3D racing maps. As for video games, Apple Arcade
offers access to a catalog of over 250 games, as well as Synth Riders, Lego
Builder's Journey, Super Fruit Ninja, Loóna, Blackbox, Void-X and Skatrix Pro.
In SVoD, Disney+ is the only major player to be on board,
offering greater immersion for some of its content, for example by enlarging
the image using the IMAX format. The Max platform (Warner Bros.) lets you watch
Game of Thrones in the Iron Throne room. Finally, Apple TV+ is a logical
addition to the SVoD applications available. Apple has announced over 200 films
using Apple Immersive Video, with immersive functionalities. Surprisingly, two
French apps are present: myCanal and Arte, although the headset is not yet
available in France.
Applications
that won't be present
We already know that YouTube and Spotify won't be on the
Vision Pro: the same goes for Netflix. These services say they don't see the
point of the headset at the moment. The same goes for Meta or Google
applications: in general, social networks are absent from the Vision Pro App
Store.
Hoping for a rapid arrival of these, we look forward to a
global sale of this Vision Pro that will satisfy the needs of many of us.
