Sony will be opening pre-orders for a limited edition PlayStation 5 in the style of "Marvel's Spider-Man 2", the next game in the license to be released on the console. This edition, with its reworked shell and controller, is sure to please fans of the superhero.
On October 20, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be released, the next installment in the series that began on Sony consoles. The first game was a commercial and critical hit, so its sequel is eagerly awaited. To celebrate the upcoming game, Sony is launching a special edition of its PlayStation 5, in the colors of Spider-Man. Pre-orders open on July 28.
A PlayStation 5 in Spider-Man colors
Via a post on its blog, the games console manufacturer presented this Marvel's Spider-Man 2 edition. The console's plates and the shell of the PlayStation controller naturally feature Spider-Man's symbol, his spider.
But above all, the threat posed by Venom and the Symbiotes can be seen, with solid blacks contrasting with the red of the superhero and taking over the territory. This is a collaboration between Marvel and Insomniac Games, the development studio behind Marvel's Spider-Man 2.
Good news for PlayStation 5 owners: they can only buy the plates.
In this special edition, Sony is offering several different packs:
. The PlayStation 5 - Marvel's Spider-Man 2 limited edition, including plates, a DualSense controller and a digital copy of the standard edition game;
. PlayStation 5 Marvel's Spider-Man 2 limited edition plates;
. Limited-edition DualSense Marvel's Spider-Man 2 controller.
This is great news for those who already own a PlayStation 5: they'll only be able to buy the plates, and won't have to buy a new console (even if they sell theirs). For the controller, on the other hand, you'll have to buy a new one: the shell cannot be replaced on the DualSense. As for the game, you'll have to wait until October 20 to be able to play it.
Pre-orders start this July 28 in the USA, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Austria, Portugal, France, Belgium and Luxembourg. Pre-ordering the bundle with the game will entitle you to the same virtual goods as pre-ordering the game alone.
